In this presentation I report
some of the activities of the Royal Statistical
Society Centre for Statistical Education
(RSSCSE) that promote the enhancement of
statistical education for people across a
wide age-range in the UK and several other
countries. We discuss some of the problems
that can be encountered, the solutions to
these problems and the lessons learned.
We present details of the
RSSCSE
strategy for:

○ improving statistical education for learners
in schools and colleges;
○ enhancing continuing professional
development
for teachers in schools and lecturers
in
higher
education;
○ promoting continuous professional
development
activities for government statisticians,
particularly
in Africa;
○ accrediting, jointly with
the RSS, the
provision of statistics at universities
in
two Middle East countries |
Finally, I describe ways in which the RSSCSE
will develop some of these activities over
the next few years. After this talk I hope
that we will be able to discuss ways in which
the RSS, RSSCSE and JSS can work together
in the future.
